Volunteers Needed for the Camera Club

KSCCC Executive Member

We are looking for a volunteer to serve as a KSCCC Executive Member.

What does the position entail?

Attending and contributing to the Executive meetings that immediately follow the regular monthly meetings (30-60 minutes). Hosting at least one regular monthly meeting during our September to June calendar. Sharing expertise in a variety of roles as needed to support the Executive and KSCCC members.

Here are some of the responsibilities shared by Executive members: developing a monthly meeting agenda, organizing monthly challenge topics, liaising with technical support, arranging a schedule of presenters for monthly meetings, coordinating educational workshops, updating the KSCCC website, among other tasks.

What experience or abilities do you need?

  • Working collaboratively with other members of the Executive with a goal of encouraging and promoting the photographic interests of KSCCC members.
  • Contributing ideas and speaking to issues that serve the best interests of the KSCCC and its members.
  • Enjoying being a volunteer and working with other club volunteers.

When does the position start?

  • At lease one new Executive member is necessary. Support will be provided by other members of the Executive. Ideally the position(s) would be filled by the February meeting.

Meeting Producer

We are looking for a volunteer to manage audio and visual presentations during the monthly club meetings and help with setup.

What does the position entail?

Liaising with the Monthly Presenter about their presentation.
Person needs to be able to access:

  • Dropbox for challenge photos, review photos, monthly slideshow, fix my pic.
  • Powerpoint presentation for Opening and Closing Remarks.
  • Presentations from keynote speakers.
  • Members’ videos.

The person will come to the meetings with all the media on a USB stick and their laptop (or they can use one provided by the center).

The position requires under 5 hours a month for preparation of materials. In addition to attending the monthly meetings, they should arrive to help with set up 30 minutes before the meeting starts, and attend the Executive Committee meeting after the Club meeting (up to one hour).

What experience or abilities do you need?

  • Be comfortable with technology.
  • Be comfortable with AV setup – hooking laptop to projector and speakers.
  • Willingness to learn new computer skills.
  • Ability to “troubleshoot” during meetings.
  • Enjoy working with other club volunteers.

When does the position start?

  • Training can begin right away, ideally in place by the February meeting.

Here are a few different ways to create a Triptych for those of you who want to submit (up to 3 allowed):

  1. Photoshop Elements Creating a Triptych
  2. Frame Tool in Photoshop
  3. Crop Tool in Photoshop (works in very old photoshop as well)

Also, when you submit your triptych, please indicate if you would like to talk about one at the meeting (similar to how we do the Monthly Review of photos). For those of you non-procrastinators who have already submitted :), send an email to contact@ksccc.ca if you would like to add one of your already submitted images for review.

  • Maintaining the KSCCC website
  • Posting news articles to the KSCCC blog
  • Adding new web page banners
  • Posting information on upcoming presenters 
  • Posting notices of upcoming workshops
  • Making yearly changes to web pages (for example the monthly challenges)
  • Ensuring payment for the KSCCC website domain name, the KSCCC website and Flickr image storage 
  • Other related duties as needed
  • 5 hours/month

What experience or abilities do you need?

  • Experience in WordPress (or be willing to learn)
  • Be comfortable with technology and using the Internet
  • Willingness to learn new computer skills
  • Enjoy working with other club volunteers

When does the position start?

  • Training can begin immediately – must be in place by June.
