The Backyard Astronomer Coming to KSCCC

Gary Boyle, known as “The Backyard Astronomer”, will be speaking on astrophotography at our October 6th meeting.

For the past 58 years, Gary has had a passion for the night sky that started when he was eight years old. He is presently an astronomy educator, guest speaker, monthly columnist for the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada as well as a STEM educator. He has been interviewed on more than 55 Canadian radio stations as well as television across Canada and the U.S. His articles have appeared in numerous newspapers. In recognition of his public outreach in astronomy, the International Astronomical Union has honoured him with the naming of Asteroid (22406) Garyboyle.

Low dpi problems?

When I emailed Dave Blazek, the creator of the very funny Loose Parts comic for permission to post it to our blog, he replied:

Thanks for asking. I shutter to think what would’ve happened if you didn’t.

LOL

New Gallery Opening

Ginny Fobert (who has made several presentations to our club) and 3 other artists are opening the new Carleton Place Gallery on Thursday, August 24th. Location, hours, contact information, and other details are on their website.

They’re only 25 minutes away. Why not take a look.

We wish them good luck!
