Pictures Needed for the Library Display

Once again this year, the KSCCC will be promoting the club with
a display of our work in the display case at the entrance to the
Beaverbrook Library (next door), in January. The theme will again
be: “Winter: A great time to create pictures” To complete the
display, we are looking for three more pictures 8” x 10” inches in
size (landscape or portrait) and framed without matting in a fairly
plain black or silver frame. We would like one more winter scene
and two artistic post-processing pictures to complete the display.

Pictures will be considered in the order submitted. We will be
choosing a combination of pictures that complement each other,
and best promote the theme. To submit your picture for
consideration please send an electronic copy of it in an email to
contact@ksccc.ca , with the Subject line “Library display in
January“ and put Attention: Jan & Bruce Turner in the text.

To meet the January date, we need to receive your submissions
by the end of November. This will allow us time to select pictures
and notify participants so that they can print and frame their
pictures by mid-December.

We know there are lots of great pictures out there, so please take
a few minutes to consider helping the KSCCC promote the club.

Lorraine Fernando Presenting in November

Lorraine Fernando

Lorraine Fernando will give a presentation on Painting with Light – Bending Pixels on Friday, November 3, 2023.

Lorraine has been photographing for about ten years. She has spent some time trying to find her photographic voice – what interests her, and what types of images she likes to create.

Lorraine’s approach to photography is experimental, and she enjoys creating images using many different techniques.  Her photographs range from traditional landscapes to impressionistic images. Lorraine is a self-confessed pixel-bender and her preference is to show what cannot be seen with the naked eye.  She sometimes bends her pixels in-camera, with various multiple exposure techniques. Other times, she will look through her existing catalog of images and select one that calls to her and gets to bending, adjusting, blending, and mixing, until she likes what she has. Either way, Lorraine gets her best images when she zones out and just plays!

Lorraine enjoys traveling and photographing places.  She has found that she sees and experiences a place very differently as a photographer, looking below the surface and capturing many details that she would never notice if she wasn’t looking through her viewfinder.

New Pictures in the Seniors’ Centre

We have completed changing all the KSCCC pictures in the
Seniors’ Centre. Please take a minute to check them out when
you are next there. Thanks to the following photographers for
some great pictures: Jack Coutts, Jane Phipps, Jay-Dee Purdy,
Ted Timmons, Ken Wilson, and Wendy Wood.

As a reminder, the KSCCC is looking for additional pictures to
hang in the Seniors’ Centre, and we encourage all club members
to contribute.  We are now open for business for the February
change. If you have a picture you really like, then chances are
people at the Centre would like to see it too. For more information
on how to participate, please check out this post or send your
questions to contact@ksccc.ca to the attention of Jan and Bruce
Turner.
