Karen Bell, Fine Art Photographer
Karen has enjoyed being a photographer for over 30 years. After working in the industry in the portrait/studio/wedding world, she has spent the last 10 years focused on the Fine Art aspect of her career. Shooting in both the traditional and ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) style, Karen enjoys expressing herself through the meeting of the world and its light. Karen looks forward to sharing the images she has created in the ICM style over the past few years, as well as exploring other creative in-camera techniques and sharing her experiences with galleries, shows and exhibits.
Intentional Camera Movement – OCM
In the ICM style, all the movement seen in Karen’s images is created during the shooting process, captured in a single frame. By physically moving the camera as she shoots, and her technical understanding along with her knowledge of light, she ‘crafts’ movement, and that offers a unique, serene perspective of water, land and forest.
Artist Statement
Photographing the world makes me feel connected: to the earth, to people and experiences, past and present. There is a creative feeling I get while exploring a location and working with my tools, and that feeling helps me focus and form an image stemming from my inner vision. The natural world draws and inspires me, and I love capturing and crafting images that evoke emotion and awakens energy.
