Until April 4th, the KSCCC will be promoting the club and showcasing our work in the display case at the entrance to the Ottawa Public Library, Beaverbrook Branch. The theme is: Cell Phones Take Great Pictures. Thanks for their contributions to the display to photographers Debbie Pinard, Phil Tughan, Tom Lewis, Ed Lascelle, Ted Timmons, and Michele Doran-Sugar, and a special thanks to them for their very quick responses to a tight timeline. If you are heading to the Seniors Centre, pop by the Library and have a peek at the display.
Once again this year, the KSCCC will be promoting the club with a display of our work in the display case at the entrance to the Beaverbrook Library (next door to the Seniors Centre), in late March and early April. The theme will be: “Phones take great pictures” To complete the display, we are looking for six pictures taken with cell phones. They will need to be printed 8” x 10” inches in size (landscape or portrait) and framed without matting in a fairly plain black or silver frame.
Pictures will be considered in the order submitted. They can be about any subject. We will be choosing a combination of pictures taken with cell phones, that complement each other and show a variety of interesting subjects. To submit your picture for consideration please send an electronic copy in an email to contact@ksccc.ca , with the Subject line “Library display in March“ and put Attention: Jan & Bruce Turner in the text.
To meet the late March date (exact dates to be confirmed), we need to receive your electronic submissions as soon as possible. This will allow us time to select pictures and notify participants so that they can print and frame their pictures by March 22.
We know there are lots of great pictures out there, so please take a few minutes to consider helping the KSCCC promote the club.
How far do you want to push beyond just Thinking Like a Photographer? At our March 7th meeting, Bill will share his journey on how to be more creative in achieving the desired Image from the captured data. He’ll provide examples of before and after Images and present a few AV Shows. This Presentation focuses on the What & Why, not the How.
Bill’s Artistic Statement
I believe pressing the shutter is only the first step in the photographic process. The photographic Image can be so much more than it was in the past. Modern tools now allow the photographer to more clearly convey to the viewer the artist’s interpretation of the world and of their perception of life. I use a varied tool kit to create an Image that hopefully evokes for the viewer a strong sense of what I experienced and what I felt; not just what I saw.
For more on Bill including many examples of his work visit his website.
Once again it is time to establish the topics for the Monthly Challenges for next year. If time permits, we will ask members at the meeting for suggestions – BUT the March 7 meeting has a really busy schedule, so . . .
We will have a Monthly Assignment suggestion box and pens and papers at the back of the room for your suggestions or alternatively, you can submit your suggestion to contact@ksccc.ca with the subject line “Monthly Challenge Topic”. During the coffee break and for a short time after the meeting John Williamson will be at the table if you would like to discuss your challenge suggestions.
Your suggestion will be forwarded to the executive for consideration.

We received this invitation from the Lanark County Camera Club to join their photo excursion to Quebec City:
My name is Rob Donald and I am the president of the Lanark County Camera Club (LCCC) in Perth. Jean-Francois Riel of the Orleans Camera Club pointed me to your club and thought that some of your Kanata Seniors Photo Club members might be interested in a two night trip my club is organizing to Quebec City on April 8-10.
We have a 56-passenger coach bus secured for the trip and a guaranteed rate at the Chateau Laurier Hotel in Quebec City. The trip would start and finish in Carleton Place where we have secured ample parking for participants.
We have 20 confirmed participants from my club as well participants from Kingston, Brockville and the CCO photo clubs. Members of your club would be most welcome to join us. Bus tickets are $261.11 per seat.
I am including an information package outlining travel and hotel details. Please let me know if you have any questions.
